About the Company
The client is a leading AI company valued at $5 billion, supported by prominent Silicon Valley investors. Operating across more than 35 countries with around 650 employees, it enables large enterprises to quickly implement AI solutions through its comprehensive AI platform and localized deployment teams. The Australian team is currently expanding, and you will be the engineer who directly translates product capabilities into production-ready solutions for clients.
Role Overview
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will partner closely with enterprise customers to identify critical operational challenges, design tailored AI solutions, and deploy AI agents integrated with client systems. Your work will not follow traditional product engineering models; instead, you will serve as the customer's technical lead ensuring production success.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with client teams to identify and prioritize operational problems amenable to AI solutions.
- Transform ambiguous and complex issues into clear technical designs and implement them effectively.
- Deploy AI platform components on client infrastructure, advising on best practices for integration and operation.
- Develop AI agents interfacing with client APIs and systems.
- Conduct workshops to educate and align client teams on solutions and usage.
- Produce clean, production-ready code supporting integrations and workflows.
- Oversee deployments, focusing on reliability and system performance.
- Test solutions against real-world data and iterate quickly for improvements.
- Collaborate with internal Product and Engineering teams, contributing to shared tools, documentation, and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in software engineering with proven involvement in building and scaling production systems.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
- Experience with platform integrations involving APIs, cloud infrastructure, MCP, and data flows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the confidence to own complex problems in client-facing situations.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with a proactive, high-ownership work ethic.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in forward deployment or solutions engineering roles.
- Exposure to AI agents or automation projects.
- Background working in fast-growth startup environments.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and programming in TypeScript, Go, or Python.
