Position Overview
Orion Mining Inc is looking to hire a FOPS Operations Lead with significant WHP experience. The work will be based primarily in Doha (Onshore/Offshore) or China. This contract role emphasizes overseeing the implementation and integration of production facilities with a strong focus on operability, maintainability, reliability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure and maintain quality policies guaranteeing smooth operations, maintainability, reliability, and safety across newly developed production assets.
- Oversee integration and operability of new equipment and facilities within projects.
- Manage all production-related aspects during project phases including FEED, Basic Engineering, and EPCIC.
- Update Operating Philosophies, Manuals, and Procedures for facilities delivered by major projects.
- Participate actively in HAZOPs, HAZID, PRs, JRA, and risk assessments related to installation and construction.
- Collaborate with Projects teams to forecast production impacts and implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent downtimes.
- Coordinate with Commissioning Managers and Site Teams to support offshore execution preparations.
- Engage in operability and maintainability studies as well as 3D model reviews.
- Support contractors in developing Operating Procedures aligned with FOPS standards and practices.
- Identify training needs and develop programs for field operations stakeholders concerning new facilities.
- Represent FOPS during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of critical equipment.
- Validate project design bases against field bottlenecks and debottlenecking actions.
- Lead and support site operations teams during installation and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to defining handover philosophies and provide comprehensive project feedback through Return of Experience reports.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- At least 8 years of combined field operations and project experience in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of production, process, and flow assurance engineering principles.
- Familiarity with NOC standards, MANASA, and other relevant codes and standards is preferred.
- Excellent analytical capabilities.
- Willingness and availability for frequent travel to vendor locations.
- Required certifications include H2S OPITO and T-BOSIET training.
