Job Overview
The Floor Care Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all floor surfaces and restrooms, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees. This role supports customer satisfaction by upholding consistent and compliant operating conditions while embracing workplace diversity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain orderliness and safety in sales floors, liquor stores, office spaces, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and restrooms (approximately 70% focus on restrooms).
- Operate floor care machines, department equipment, and utilize cleaning tools and chemicals properly.
- Sweep and vacuum mats and rugs, reposition them correctly, and remove carpet stains.
- Handle trash disposal and conduct thorough restroom cleaning.
- Create a hospitable atmosphere for customers, helping to enhance loyalty through attentive service and assistance in product finding.
- Ensure adherence to company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, and productivity.
- Follow regulatory compliance related to food safety, USDA, COOL, and DOA guidelines.
- Execute product recalls and withdrawals timely, securing affected items from customer reach.
- Support safety programs by following procedures, identifying hazards, reporting incidents like accidents or illegal activities, and maintaining a safe work culture.
- Ensure associates are trained and utilize personal protective equipment where necessary.
- Maintain equipment condition, report defects, and assist with remediation to manage safety risks.
Additional Duties
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to acquire it.
- Successful clearance of pre-employment drug test and background verification.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience; supervisory experience is a plus.
- Strong customer service abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English required; Spanish language skills preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Regular standing and walking on various floors; manual dexterity required.
- Tasks often involve reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, carrying, and occasional climbing up to 30 feet.
- Exposure to multiple working environments including indoor, outdoor, cold, heated, wet, and humid conditions.
- Potential exposure to physical risks such as slippery surfaces, hazardous equipment, loud noise, irritants, dust, fumes, and cleaning agents.
- Use of cleaning supplies, office equipment, material handling tools including pallet jacks and carts.
- Personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, and back braces required when performing tasks.
Shift and Travel
Varied shifts with occasional travel but no overnight stays expected.
