Job description
Job Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment by ensuring that all floor surfaces and restrooms are properly cared for. The role supports customer confidence and loyalty through consistent and compliant operational standards. It also values diversity and inclusivity within the team by appreciating different backgrounds and experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in various store areas including sales floor, liquor store, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and restrooms, covering approximately 70% of time.
- Operate floor care and department equipment, using relevant tools and chemicals effectively.
- Sweep and vacuum mats and rugs, ensuring their return to original locations; remove carpet spots; manage trash disposal and perform deep cleaning of restrooms.
- Create a welcoming environment promoting customer appreciation and aiding in customer loyalty, dedicating around 15% of work time to customer assistance and store conditions.
- Ensure compliance with company standards for safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity, also allocating roughly 15% of time to these duties.
- Adhere to regulatory food safety requirements including USDA, COOL, and DOA regulations.
- Manage product recalls and withdrawals efficiently, securing and removing affected products from customer access.
- Reinforce store safety programs by following procedures, identifying hazards, reporting accidents, and addressing illegal activities such as theft or fraud.
- Ensure wage and hour policies compliance and cultivate a culture of safety through necessary training and use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain equipment condition and assist in addressing safety hazards including lockout/tagout procedures.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain such authorization.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Strong skills in customer service, communication, interpersonal relations, and motivation.
- Preferred education is a High School diploma or GED.
- Languages: English required; Spanish preferred.
- Relevant experience: from none up to 3 years. Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work involves standing or walking on various floor types, using manual dexterity and repetitive hand/foot movements.
- Frequent reaching, carrying, pushing, or lifting up to specified weights (up to 250 lbs for pulling and 50 lbs for lifting).
- Occasional activities include sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
- Exposure to diverse conditions: indoor/outdoor environments, temperature variations including cold and heat, and wet or humid settings.
- Potential exposure to hazards such as slippery surfaces, sharp objects, loud noises, irritants, dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and other toxins.
- Use of personal protective equipment like gloves, goggles, and back braces is required.
Work Schedule and Travel
- Varied work shifts.
- Occasional travel required, but no overnight stays.
