Job Overview
The Floor Care Associate is responsible for upholding cleanliness and sanitation across all floor surfaces and restrooms to provide a safe and welcoming environment. The role contributes to enhancing customer trust and loyalty by maintaining consistent standards and practices. Embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive workplace culture is also emphasized.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain orderliness and hazard-free conditions in sales floors, liquor stores, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and restrooms (accounting for 70% of the workload).
- Operate floor care and departmental equipment, using associated tools and chemicals effectively.
- Sweep and vacuum mats and rugs, ensuring they are returned to their original placement and removing spots from carpets.
- Dispose of trash properly and perform thorough restroom deep cleaning.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers, making them feel valued, which accounts for approximately 15% of the role.
- Deliver consistent store conditions that meet company cleanliness and sanitary standards.
- Assist customers by locating or recommending products.
- Adhere strictly to company safety guidelines, proper food handling, sanitation protocols, and productivity goals (15% focus).
- Follow all regulatory compliance including food safety, USDA, Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and Department of Agriculture (DOA) requirements.
- Promptly execute product recalls and withdrawals, ensuring all affected merchandise is secured and inaccessible to customers.
- Support safety programs by complying with safety procedures, inspecting, and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
- Report accidents involving customers or employees, any safety risks, illegal activities like theft or fraud.
- Ensure adherence to wage and hour policies.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture by ensuring that all associates are trained and working safely, with hazard assessments visible and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition and assist with hazard remediation activities such as lockouts/tagouts when necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Age requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screening.
- Strong customer service skills with excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication abilities.
- Basic supervisory experience preferred with 0-3 years relevant experience.
- Languages: English required; Spanish preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Regular standing and walking on diverse flooring types, using manual dexterity, and performing repetitive hand and foot motions.
- Frequent reaching at waist or overhead height, carrying, pushing, or lifting items up to specified weights.
- Occasional sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments including cold, heat, wetness, humidity, loud noise, dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and other irritants.
- Required to handle hazardous equipment safely and navigate slippery or cluttered surfaces.
- Use of cleaning supplies, office equipment, registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and carts.
- Preferred familiarity with balers/compactors and box cutters.
- Use of personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, and back braces as needed.
- Lifting requirements: hauling loads up to 250 lbs and lifting weights up to 50 lbs.
Travel
Minimal travel required; no overnight travel expected.
