Position Overview

The Flight Instructor Examiner is responsible for conducting flight instruction and examiner duties aligned with GCAA CAR FCL Revision 5 standards. This role involves exercising privileges for MPL, IR, MPLI, and IRI certifications while ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory and organizational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform standardization and proficiency assessments for candidates in MPL, MPLI, IR, IRI, and Flight Instructor programs.
  • Apply Flight Instructor Examiner privileges maintaining compliance with revalidation criteria.
  • Deliver competency-based MPL multi-crew training as a qualified MPL Instructor (MPLI).
  • Provide Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) training to academy instructors.
  • Support the Chief Flight Instructor as deputy by overseeing training plan development and standardization for instructors.
  • Collaborate with partner flight schools’ management for effective training coordination.
  • Evaluate student progress and implement interventions for at-risk cadets.
  • Conduct interviews and suitability evaluations for MPL candidate selection.
  • Update and maintain training syllabi and materials including CBTA, MPL, UPRT, and AUPRT.
  • Conduct pre-core phase briefings for cadets preparing for flight training.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and professional guidance to cadets and instructors continually.
  • Maintain documentation of training outcomes and examination results as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid CPL or ATPL license with Instrument Rating as per GCAA CAR FCL.
  • Authorization as a GCAA Flight Examiner and Flight Instructor Examiner.
  • Certified MPL Instructor (MPLI) and Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) with AOC instructional approval where applicable.
  • Possess a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • English Language Proficiency Level 5 or above.
  • Required qualification in Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (AUPRT).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation regulations, flight training procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completion of MPL Instructor training course accredited by a GCAA-approved ATO.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent English communication skills; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Competence in training delivery, learner evaluation, data analysis, problem solving, and resource management.
  • In-depth understanding of GCAA rules and regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to achieving organizational goals and fulfilling KPIs effectively.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 2,000 flying hours logged.
  • At least 100 hours spent on examiner or checking duties.
  • Up-to-date with CAR FCL recency standards for examiner privileges.
