Job Overview
A reputable commercial vehicle recovery and fleet services company in Wellington is seeking a seasoned Fleet Controller to join their dynamic operations team. This full-time position involves overseeing daily fleet movements, supporting vehicle breakdowns, and organizing recovery tasks during a 4 on/4 off shift pattern from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the daily dispatch of vehicles and recovery assignments.
- Oversee and address vehicle breakdowns and recovery needs in real-time.
- Allocate drivers and vehicles to ensure optimum completion of tasks.
- Monitor the entire fleet’s movements and promptly respond to operational challenges.
- Maintain communication with drivers, customers, and internal departments.
- Facilitate the management of a diverse fleet comprising heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and light vehicles.
Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in fleet management, transport, logistics, or vehicle operations.
- Skilled at coordinating vehicles and drivers within a fast-paced setting.
- Able to maintain composure and organizational skills in breakdown and time-critical situations.
- Strong communication abilities coupled with a practical mindset for solving problems.
- Independent decision-making capability during busy shifts.
- Experience with HGVs or vehicle recovery is advantageous but not mandatory.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: £30,000 to £35,000 annually, based on experience.
- Annual leave entitlement of 28 days.
