Job description
Position Overview
The City of Rockingham, a prominent local government entity located 40km south of Perth CBD and recognized for its vibrant coastal community, is seeking a Firebreak Inspection Officer for a seasonal engagement from 2 November 2026 to 5 March 2027. This full-time role averages 38 hours per week and supports the City's commitment to providing exceptional public services while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of employees through adherence to the City’s core values of Recognition, Ethics, Service, Professional Development, Empowerment, Communication and Teamwork (RESPECT).
Role Responsibilities
As a key member of the Compliance and Emergency Liaison team, you will perform firebreak inspections and accurately document compliance with the City’s Fire Control Notice. Reporting to the Fire Prevention Officer, you will maintain effective communication with property owners and stakeholders to mitigate fire risks and protect lives and property.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should possess strong computer literacy and the capacity to remain self-driven while working independently. Attention to detail is critical given the nature of inspection duties. Prior experience in public interaction and bushfire control inspections, particularly firebreak compliance, is highly favorable. A valid 'C' Class driver's licence is mandatory, and certification in 4WD driving techniques will be considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive gross annual salary of $77,854, inclusive of 12% superannuation with an option to co-contribute up to an additional 5%. Employees will also receive one extra paid absence day annually under the Local Government Leave provision.
Additional Information
Qualified candidates must apply online by 4pm on Sunday, 30 August 2026.
