Job description
Job Overview
Under the leadership of the Leading Fire Fighter, this role involves responding swiftly and safely to fire alarms, medical incidents, hazardous material situations, and rescue operations to safeguard lives, properties, and the environment. The role also encompasses participating in fire prevention activities, continuous training, and maintaining readiness of the fire station and firefighting gear.
Primary Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls.
- Answer off-duty emergency calls on weekends or days off when required.
- Support medical teams by providing first aid during emergencies.
- Engage directly in firefighting and rescue operations using appropriate techniques and equipment to extinguish fires safely.
- Conduct search and rescue missions effectively and securely.
Additional Duties
- Operate and drive fire trucks and associated rescue apparatus safely and defensively.
- Protect properties from fire damage and preserve evidence at incident scenes for investigations.
- Comply with fire ground command strategies and collaborate closely with fellow firefighters to maintain team safety.
- Perform daily inspections and testing of fire trucks and firefighting equipment; promptly report any defects or malfunctions to the Station Officer and maintain accurate records.
- Take part actively in all fire training and drills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed secondary education along with relevant vocational training such as NFPA approved Fire Fighting I and II courses or a recognized Firefighter Recruit Certificate from local or external Civil Defense authorities.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working as a firefighter.
- Possession of a heavy vehicle driving license is required.
