Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Fire and Lifting Instructor/Assessor to deliver OPITO-certified training courses primarily in offshore and helideck emergency response, as well as banksman, slinger, and rigging disciplines. This full-time, onsite position reports to the Operations In-Charge or Centre Manager and involves both theoretical and practical instruction with adherence to OPITO standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver training programs and assessments meeting OPITO criteria, approved teaching plans, legislation, and company policies.
- Guarantee delegates and staff safety by proactively managing risks and implementing controls, including performing task risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Maintain all training materials, equipment, PPE, simulators, and practical resources in good and safe condition.
- Conduct fair, accurate, and confidential assessments aligned with stipulated competency standards and learning outcomes.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), standardization meetings, and quality assurance activities.
- Report and support management of hazards, incidents, equipment issues, and training shortcomings.
- Collaborate with operational teams and instructors to ensure smooth and safe course delivery.
- Perform additional training duties as assigned within the scope of occupational competence.
Essential Qualifications and Competencies
- Comprehensive familiarity with OPITO Industry Standards related to course delivery.
- Occupational competence and substantial experience in firefighting and emergency response, preferably at supervisory or team leader level; helideck emergency operations; banksman and slinger tasks; rigging operations.
- Trained and proficient in instructional methods, demonstrating effective teaching experience.
- Ongoing involvement in training programs to keep abreast of legal, OPITO, and industry changes, including documented CPD.
- Strong communication, presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skills suited to multicultural and professional audiences.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Relevant industry-recognized assessor qualifications to conduct objective, consistent evaluations according to OPITO standards and internal quality assurance procedures.
- Physical and medical fitness capable of performing training activities, including potential offshore assignments per medical requirements.
Academic and Certification Requirements
- Graduate degree or equivalent education.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent Health, Safety and Environment credential.
- Certified Train-the-Trainer or similar instructional qualifications.
- Valid competency certificates in Emergency Response, Helideck, Banksman & Slinger, and Rigging disciplines.
- Assessor qualifications as recognized by industry standards for personnel assessment roles.
- OPITO and internal auditor certifications are advantageous.
Additional Information
The ideal candidate will be a flexible, multi-disciplinary instructor/assessor with robust experience in oil & gas, offshore, or related industries able to independently conduct classroom and practical sessions across multiple safety-critical disciplines while ensuring compliance and safety excellence.
