Role Overview

Maryborough Hotel in Cork is looking for a Financial Controller with extensive experience and a commercial mindset to oversee the financial operations and reporting activities of the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily financial operations comprehensively across the business.
• Handle banking activities, cash flow management, and associated finance functions.
• Maintain and reconcile nominal ledger accounts meticulously ensuring accuracy.
• Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes for timely and effective transactions.
• Coordinate payroll and wage-related activities to ensure compliance and punctuality.
• Oversee stock control processes by monitoring discrepancies and enforcing controls.
• Produce reliable, accurate, and timely financial reports and management accounts.
• Implement and uphold strong financial controls in compliance with relevant laws, policies, and accounting standards.
• Deliver insightful financial analysis and performance evaluation to assist strategic and operational decisions.
• Seek and enact improvements in financial workflows, controls, and business efficiencies.

Requirements

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent credential.
• Substantial experience in a senior financial role like Financial Controller, preferably within hospitality, retail, or comparable fast-paced industries.
• In-depth technical expertise in financial accounting, reporting, and internal control systems.
• Strong analytical capabilities coupled with precise attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities to successfully prioritise tasks in a dynamic setting.
• Ability to operate independently as well as collaborate efficiently with management and broader teams.
• Confident communicator capable of clearly conveying financial information to stakeholders without finance backgrounds.
• A proactive and commercially driven approach emphasizing continuous financial process enhancement.
