Financial Analyst

About the Role

Your primary responsibility will be converting financial and commercial data into actionable insights that influence decision-making throughout the organization—covering revenue, costs, margins, and more. You will collaborate closely with business teams, support forecasting and planning operations, and utilize advanced data and AI tools to revolutionize the Finance function at ZURU.

Impact and Responsibilities

• Transform traditional Excel-based reports into automated AI-driven analytics providing real-time business intelligence.
• Collaborate extensively with commercial and functional teams to understand performance drivers, contextualize results, and supply clear financial analysis that aids critical decisions.
• Evaluate financial and commercial datasets including revenue, costs, margins, and staffing to spot trends, variances, and improvement opportunities across units.
• Assist with monthly management reporting by conducting performance evaluations, variance analyses, and creating concise narratives to simplify complex information for senior leaders.
• Support development of quarterly rolling forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term plans by gathering inputs, challenging assumptions, and maintaining financial models.
• Produce tailored analyses and business cases for the FP&A Manager and executive leadership as needed.
• Contribute to wider Group Finance efforts such as P&L and balance sheet reviews, month-end processes, and key financial projects.
• Develop strong partnerships within ZURU’s global finance teams, including those based in China, to deepen understanding of financial data origins.
• Drive continuous enhancements to Finance processes, data quality, and reporting through automation, creation of self-service datasets, and standardization of templates using AI tools.
• Embody and promote a culture of continuous improvement by seeking innovative ways to optimize Finance operations and challenging existing methods.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in finance, accounting, economics, commerce, information systems, or data analytics. CA pathway candidates supported.
• Strong skills in Excel and financial modeling; passion for learning new technologies, especially AI-based tools integral to ZURU’s Finance team.
• Excellent commercial judgement and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and succinctly explain anomalies in data.
• Effective communication and influencing abilities able to convey complex analyses in understandable terms for various stakeholders including senior management.
• Proactive, energetic, creative, and determined with a solutions-oriented mindset, resilient and humble in pursuit of continuous improvement.
• Role requires full-time presence at ZURU’s headquarters in New Zealand to maximize training and development opportunities.
