Finance Manager

About the Role

Procreate is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take charge of the Finance Team and oversee all associated financial duties. The successful candidate will ensure the organisation adheres to all statutory and tax law requirements, providing senior leadership and founders with clear, comprehensive financial reports to enable informed strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the Finance team daily, offering clear direction and operational management.
• Promote and help maintain a collaborative, positive workplace culture consistent with Procreate's values.
• Deliver timely, accurate financial reports tailored to the needs of the business.
• Manage monthly budget reporting and provide analytical insights to aid decision-makers.
• Prepare official financial statements and annual reports.
• Ensure company compliance with all statutory, taxation, and financial reporting standards.
• Maintain strong working relationships with external parties such as auditors, the Australian Tax Office (ATO), ASIC, and banking institutions.
• Authorize accounts payable transactions and oversee cash flow and banking operations.
• Address accounting and taxation challenges, presenting well-reasoned solutions.
• Supervise financial information systems, including Xero, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Identify and recommend opportunities for saving costs, improving efficiency, and refining processes.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and execute the annual budget.
• Establish and uphold internal financial policies, controls, and governance frameworks.
• Align financial processes with audit requirements and best practice standards.
• Assist other business units in understanding and following financial policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile and Required Skills

• Possession of tertiary qualifications in Accounting, complemented by CA or CPA certification and current Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Extensive experience in a financial leadership capacity within a corporate setting.
• Deep expertise in technical accounting including statutory and consolidated reporting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and reporting obligations.
• Proven ability to generate clear and accurate financial reports for senior management.
• Familiarity with financial applications such as Xero and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational aptitude to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical and methodical mindset focused on problem-solving and financial stewardship.

Initial Objectives for First 6-12 Months

• Complete onboarding and build rapport with colleagues.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of Procreate’s financial systems, processes, and reporting protocols.
• Establish full transparency across financial operations and reporting functions.
• Enhance internal controls, governance policies, and compliance frameworks.
• Engage in budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy planning sessions.
• Consistently deliver reliable and actionable financial reports to support top-level decision-making.
