Finance Director

About the Role

Located in Blantyre, Malawi, this role reports directly to the Managing Director and Regional Financial Director. You will lead and provide comprehensive financial oversight across the organization ensuring all financial activities comply with local laws and company standards, while also driving the company's strategic objectives and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and submit the annual regional budget promptly for Head Office approval, ensuring consistency with predefined budgeting principles.
• Enforce stringent budgetary controls to keep expenses within approved limits.
• Generate accurate monthly financial forecasts to anticipate and manage business risks effectively.
• Oversee precise and timely processing of decentralized accounting entries using the G4S ERP system, maintaining thorough and accurate documentation.
• Manage the regional Accounts Receivable processes with strong credit control to optimize cash flow.
• Analyze monthly financial statements, assess budget variances, detect trends, and provide detailed management reports to the Managing Director.
• Lead initiatives to reduce costs throughout the business.
• Coordinate litigation, insurance claims, and other related matters efficiently.
• Supervise finance personnel through regular performance reviews and foster skills development and career progression to maintain a high-performance team.
• Contribute proactively to the design, implementation, and monitoring of safety plans at branch, regional and national levels.
• Engage in safety forums and meetings, report incidents responsibly, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols including the use of protective clothing.
• Ensure strict adherence to all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Financial Management or Accounting; possession of a postgraduate degree is highly desirable.
• Be a Qualified Chartered Accountant, registered as a Chartered Accountant Malawi (CA(M)), with active membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) and the Malawi Accountants Board (MAB).
• Have at least 5 years of senior leadership experience in Finance or Accounting roles.
• Thorough understanding of Malawian company legislation and local tax laws.
• Knowledge of security industry legislation and familiarity with G4S Finance policies is advantageous.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, professional management, and conflict resolution skills.
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting, auditing, and computing technologies.
• Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills promoting collaboration and relationship building.
