Role Overview
The Field Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating equipment operators and related activities at the site. This role demands meticulous planning, reporting, and communication with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operation and fulfillment of customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee attendance and availability of operators and equipment on-site, maintaining detailed reports on operator work status, equipment breakdowns, and rental status.
- Plan site operations based on priorities and job requirements, including coordinating operator deputation aligned with their skill sets and site vacancies.
- Monitor and follow up on equipment breakdowns and plans to resolve operator shortages by collecting data from supervisors and coordinating recruitment and training efforts.
- Evaluate operator competency and skills regularly and ensure proper deputation to meet customer demands.
- Interact with customers to understand and fulfill their operator and equipment requirements effectively.
- Review work and purchase orders to identify required documentation for both operators and equipment, coordinating with sales teams to secure these documents timely.
- Arrange and monitor documents such as TPI certificates, insurance, pollution checks for equipment, and operator documents including experience certificates and driving licenses.
- Organize third-party inspections of operators and equipment through vendor coordination as per customer needs.
- Conduct site visits to facilitate and supervise loading and unloading operations, ensuring safe handling practices including tyre placement and secure locking of equipment.
- Optimize fund utilization by exploring cost-effective options for logistics and operations, including arranging hydra cranes for loading/unloading.
- Handle daily matters related to equipment breakdowns, operator shortages, billing closures, and new orders.
- Engage with customers during site visits to gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Plan and allocate budget for operator personal protective equipment (PPE), medical support, travel, accommodation, and daily operational conveyance.
- Manage funds required for loading/unloading operations and for equipment maintenance such as pollution checks, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
- Ensure timely submission and verification of operators’ attendance logs weekly, and coordinate monthly attendance validation and overtime hours checks with HR.
- Administer salary grade assignments and performance-based salary upgrades for operators monthly.
- Review operator performance each month and collect, verify, and process monthly bills and claims.
- Validate claims against supervisor budget allocations and ensure claim approvals by zone heads.
- Ensure punctual courier dispatch of all claims and bills to the office, coordinate billing team for summary creation from log sheets, and achieve 100% certification of summaries and invoices for the region.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with multiple teams and customers. The role operates primarily on-site in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and comes with a monthly salary in the range of INR 25,000 to INR 27,000.
