Field Service Technician

About the Role

Elevation Recruitment Group's Engineering Services Division invites applications for the Field Service Technician position supporting a reputable client in the Automotive Equipment sector. This role involves assisting with installation and servicing of automotive workshop machinery including tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment systems. It covers a regional area including Bristol, Swindon, Reading, and Andover.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and calibrate tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment equipment ensuring they function correctly.
• Conduct diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on electro-mechanical systems onsite.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Attend breakdown calls promptly and resolve problems efficiently to reduce downtime.
• Provide customers with fundamental operator training after installation.
• Accurately document service activities and complete reports.
• Build and sustain strong customer relationships by delivering excellent service.
• Identify and suggest opportunities for service contracts, equipment upgrades, or replacements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience working with automotive workshop or similar capital equipment.
• Proficient in electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and repair.
• Previous experience in a field-based, customer-facing role is advantageous.
• Familiarity with garage environments and workshop processes is preferred.
• Excellent communication abilities and a professional demeanor.
• Able to work independently and efficiently manage workload.
• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of specific tyre and wheel alignment equipment brands such as Corghi, Hunter, Hofmann, and Bosch.
• Basic understanding of electronics, sensor technology, and calibration systems.
• Experience with compressed air and hydraulic systems.
