Field Service Engineer - Centrifugal Compressor

About the Role

Join as a Mechanical Field Service Engineer specializing in Centrifugal Compressors within the Turbomachinery Process Solutions Product Line. You will be part of the Industrial and Energy Technology (IET) team, operating globally across 120 countries, serving energy and industrial sectors with advanced rotating equipment, process flow, transmission technology, and lifecycle services. The role contributes to engineering quality improvements by collaborating in engineering transformation efforts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance and support to clients and craft labor during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Baker Hughes centrifugal compressors.
• Manage unloading, inspection, and correct placement of compressors and major auxiliaries at installation sites on foundations.
• Conduct geometric and dimensional verification of foundations, equipment, and auxiliary skid positioning, ensuring precise leveling and alignment.
• Perform installation, commissioning, and startup procedures for various centrifugal compressor models such as MCL, BCL, PCL, and SRL at customer premises.
• Execute minor and major inspections involving assembly, disassembly, clearance adjustments, and evaluation of wear or damage on components including couplings (lubricated-tooth and dry-elastic), thrust and journal bearings, gas and oil seals (dry gas, oil mechanical, labyrinth, and honeycomb types), diaphragms, and volutes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a full-time technical diploma of at least three years.
• A minimum of five years relevant industrial experience, especially in rotating equipment at customer sites.
• Proven experience with installation and/or maintenance of centrifugal compressors in field conditions.
• Strong functional and technical skills, complemented by customer focus, communication abilities, interpersonal skills, and teamwork aptitude.
