Work Schedule and Environment
The role follows a standard work schedule from Monday to Friday. The job requires physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds without help and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards. Working in a cleanroom environment necessitates no use of hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, or facial hair. Usage of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gowns, gloves, lab coats, and ear plugs is mandatory. Handling hazardous and toxic materials is part of the position.
Job Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the repair, installation, and updating of Thermo Fisher Scientific's hardware and automation products, providing expert consultancy on customer premises. Your contribution will support impactful global challenges including environmental conservation, food safety, and cancer research.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, service, and repair instruments and equipment, delivering basic user training and preventive maintenance as well as ensuring compliance.
- Develop and contribute to service procedures and documentation with a focus on high-value initiatives.
- Collaborate internally among departments to enhance customer experience.
- Ensure rapid response to customer inquiries and proficient resolution of issues to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Regularly report on service activities and customer interactions.
- Oversee the commissioning and validation of equipment through Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and Installation/Operational Qualification protocols (IQ/OQ).
- Build and nurture strong customer relationships within your geographic territory.
- Coordinate with Service Sales Representatives to facilitate service orders.
- Assist in product quality enhancements and participate in service process optimization projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent background in computer technology, electrical/electronics engineering, automation, biology, or chemistry.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in bioprocessing, automated bioproduction, equipment design and maintenance, software control, chromatography, or related fields.
Skills and Abilities
- Capability to assess and prioritize improvements for customer experience and internal processes, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to implement solutions.
- Knowledge of Delta V or similar control software is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a global team and customers.
- Self-driven with excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows OS, PC hardware, and desktop applications.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and extensively.
