Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and stable working environment by strictly following company and industry safety protocols, documenting safety activities accurately.
- Adhere rigorously to Personal Protective Equipment policies, Lockout-Tagout procedures, permit systems including Hot Work and Confined Space Entry, and other approved safe work methods.
- Engage in Process Hazard Analyses, monitor safety-critical equipment and systems, and maintain compliance with process safety standards, MOC protocols, and operating procedures.
- Serve as a certified first responder for emergencies such as fires, gas leaks, and emergency shutdowns; operate firefighting and emergency equipment effectively.
- Comply with environmental permits, control chemical spill incidents, and consistently identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Utilize the Basic Safety Practice program to safeguard operational personnel.
- Operate the hydrogen plant facilities including Steam Methane Reformer with CO2 removal and compression sections, PSA systems and Tail Gas compression, Membrane Units, and associated utilities as per operational instructions.
- Manage pipeline networks to safely and efficiently supply hydrogen, steam, and CO2 to customer pipelines.
- Ensure adherence to BHIG standards and global best practices concerning environmental health and safety, productivity, reliability, quality, and customer service excellence.
- Maintain continuous customer communication at the field level to meet demand while maximizing facility efficiency and profit.
- Follow site work manuals and procedures to oversee production and supply, maintaining safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility.
- Conduct frequent process monitoring by field rounds, inspecting equipment using multiple senses and local indicators, adjusting controls to maintain parameters, and collecting routine samples.
- Perform detailed startup and shutdown sequences for the plant or individual units, ensuring safe transitions and supporting commissioning activities.
- Communicate effectively with DCS operators and shift supervisors regarding operational adjustments and maintenance coordination.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment preparation and restart under safe conditions.
- Conduct thorough shift handovers, reporting abnormalities, ongoing work, and special instructions to incoming operators.
- Maintain precise log records of operational parameters, incidents, and production data, taking full accountability for accuracy.
- Identify causes of process deviations and equipment failures, collaborating with engineering to implement durable corrective measures.
- Contribute to operational improvement initiatives and debottlenecking projects aimed at enhancing safety, reliability, and profitability.
- Comply fully with preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as well as environmental regulations.
- Support and assist in planning for plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
- Provide mentorship and motivation to newly assigned field operators.
- Participate in investigations and root cause analyses to develop sustainable corrective actions.
- Undertake additional duties assigned by management promptly and follow directives from panel operators to optimize plant operation.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Chemical Process Operations engineering; an Associate Technical Degree (2-year certificate) may be accepted considering experience and competence.
- Have minimum 5 years experience in field operations within SMR-based Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol, or Syngas plants as a Field Operator.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of SMR processes, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, and rotating machinery, particularly compressors; exhibit strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Possess broad technical expertise spanning operations, engineering, and maintenance domains.
- Exhibit a high level of situational awareness and decision-making skills under pressure, alongside strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing, facilitating collaboration between operations and maintenance teams.
- Show a strong dedication to employee engagement, team collaboration, and workplace diversity.

Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
