Job description
About the Role
This position involves working at the crossroads of photonic engineering, AI in scientific applications, and customer implementation. Unlike a pre-sales support role, it requires owning the technical interface with photonic integrated circuit (PIC) designers, electronic design automation (EDA) vendors, and foundry partners, converting complex engineering challenges into structured, AI-enhanced workflows that scale efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Design AI-enabled workflows to optimize photonic device design, verification, and yield, facilitating accelerated progress without sacrificing manufacturability.
- Convert intricate engineering processes such as simulation preparation, compact modelling, variability assessment, layout-aware optimization, and measurement analysis into physics-based, verifiable procedures.
- Identify critical bottlenecks and develop integrated solutions that collaborate seamlessly with existing EDA software, simulation platforms, and process design kit (PDK) frameworks.
- Construct predictive models to heighten design assurance and expedite iterations accounting for fabrication variability and process corners.
- Relay insights gained from customer experiences to refine platform functionalities and inform product development roadmap.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a Master's or Doctorate degree in integrated photonics, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in photonic product engineering, with a strong preference for those who have contributed to market deployments.
- Proficient user of simulation and EDA tools such as COMSOL, Ansys, RSoft, Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys OptoCompiler, or Luceda IPKISS.
- Hands-on experience designing advanced photonic components, including high-speed modulators and photodiodes.
- Proven track record collaborating with EDA vendors or photonic foundries to deliver technical solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with device engineers, engineering leaders, and enterprise-level stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary ranging between $150,000 and $250,000, commensurate with experience.
- Equity participation through stock options.
- Access to advanced artificial intelligence, physics modeling, and EDA tools.
- Opportunity to work closely with industry-leading experts at the convergence of AI and hardware technologies.
- Support for conference attendance, research collaborations, and ongoing professional growth.
