FHE Technician

Job Overview

The FHE Technician is responsible for conducting both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fuel handling equipment assets, following USAF regulations and company quality standards. This position mandates compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum's ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Key Responsibilities

• Receive inbound equipment from freight loading/unloading or storage areas.
• Assess the general condition of fuel handling assets and related tools.
• Conduct visual inspections and operational tests.
• Clean and examine major and minor equipment parts removed from assets.
• Diagnose equipment faults and perform necessary repair actions.
• Rebuild engines, fuel nozzles, and fuel/air valves; replace hoses and air lines.
• Restore equipment by replacing missing or defective components per technical requirements.
• Execute mechanical, electrical, and fuel system repairs.
• Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on fuel dispensing hoses.
• Calibrate gauges and meters used with fuels assets and related equipment.
• Record time worked, work orders, and requisition parts and materials.
• Apply corrosion control measures including cleaning, sanding, priming, and coating surfaces.
• Use preservation materials to protect equipment during storage.
• Prepare fuel assets for deployment as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas both indoors and outdoors.
• Maintain and operate battery charging room equipment as needed.
• Fit and remove batteries during equipment intake or dispatch.
• Report damaged or missing tools and suggest new tool requirements.
• Perform Temporary Duty (TDY) assignments as directed by supervisors and management.
• Operate material handling and various military light to heavy equipment as required.
• Work may involve extended periods outdoors in maintenance shops or warehouses.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong organizational abilities with beginner-level English proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance documents, and safety protocols.
• Proven capability to work effectively within a culturally diverse team.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license from home country and be willing to obtain host nation license.
• High school diploma or equivalent educational background is required.
• At least two years hands-on experience with pumping systems, gasoline, and diesel engines.
• Ability to wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment consistently.
• Physically able to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 50 pounds and handle equipment extensively.
• Willingness and ability to travel both within the country and internationally.
• Possible exposure to high noise environments during equipment operations.

Desired Qualifications

• Formal mechanical maintenance training focused on fuel pumping systems, internal combustion engines, and electrical systems at journeyman proficiency is preferred.
