Farm Manager

Role Overview

The Farm Manager will take charge of the day-to-day operations on the farm, overseeing production tasks, managing personnel, equipment, and all resources to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality agricultural output while controlling costs.

Key Duties

• Oversee and coordinate daily farm operations and production workflows.
• Plan seasonal production cycles and operational activities.
• Manage the cultivation of crops and/or care of livestock.
• Supervise farm laborers and delegate daily responsibilities accordingly.
• Track health and development of crops and animals, as well as overall production benchmarks.
• Control irrigation, fertilization, pest management, feeding routines, and general farm upkeep.
• Operate, maintain, and oversee farm machinery, tools, and infrastructure.
• Manage inventory of farm supplies, materials, and their storage.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and service vendors.
• Keep comprehensive records of production data and operational reports.
• Monitor farm yield, productivity levels, and expenses.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
• Identify issues impacting operations and implement effective solutions.
• Drive improvements in productivity, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and performance reports.
• Provide training and supervise staff to uphold safe and efficient working standards.

Candidate Profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Horticulture, Animal Science, or related disciplines.
• Experience in managing farm or agricultural operations.
• In-depth knowledge of crop production and/or livestock care.
• Hands-on experience with irrigation systems, fertilization techniques, pest control, and maintenance tasks.
• Proven leadership skills supervising farm workers.
• Familiarity with agricultural machinery and equipment functionality.
• Awareness of health, safety, environmental, and agriculture standards and regulations.
• Competence in managing finances, inventory, supplier relations, and operating costs.
• Strong organizational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and leadership qualities.
• Ability to perform in physically demanding outdoor settings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite or farm management software systems.
