Role Overview
As a Caretaker located in Athlone, you will be part of a team managing some of Ireland's largest facilities management projects. This role offers a chance to enhance your skills aligned with top industry standards and earn competitive remuneration.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and high standards in all communal areas.
- Execute scheduled cleaning routines for shared spaces.
- Conduct regular health and safety inspections of communal zones and address or report issues accordingly.
- Identify, report, and arrange repairs for any hazards, monitoring progress as necessary.
- Perform grounds maintenance including grass cutting, hedge trimming, plant care, weed treatment, and minor planting.
- Coordinate with external agencies as required.
- Undertake minor repairs such as lock changes, minor plaster work, painting, decorating, and simple carpentry.
- Follow set procedures for domestic waste removal and collaborate with refuse contractors to ensure proper waste management.
- Report any abandoned vehicles in the areas managed.
- Attend training relevant to your responsibilities.
- Promote the Association positively in all related activities.
- Organize skips and bulk rubbish removal when necessary.
- Monitor presence of vermin, communicate concerns, and oversee vermin control contracts.
- Supervise work performed by service contractors and repair teams.
- Perform checks on fire safety and security equipment as directed.
- Inspect lifts and phone entry systems regularly.
Candidate Profile
- At least two years of experience in a similar caretaker or facilities maintenance role.
- Competent in general do-it-yourself repair work.
- Ability to interact with external agencies concerning deadlines, costs, and quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Hold a valid full driving license.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Capable of prioritizing daily tasks effectively.
- Skilled in working cooperatively with diverse teams and seniority levels.
- Physically capable of performing labor-intensive duties.
