Job description
Position Overview
Omega is inviting applications for a Fabricator role based in Caldicot, Wales. This full-time permanent position involves various fabrication techniques, operating hand tools and machinery to create quality metal products, while upholding safety standards.
Working Hours and Compensation
The role offers a salary range from 37440 to 41600 annually. Working hours are Monday to Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and Friday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, totaling 40 hours per week, with available overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, and instructions accurately.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape metal materials to precise dimensions.
- Assemble fabricated items using welding, bolting, riveting, and other fastening techniques.
- Operate fabrication machinery such as guillotines, presses, drills, grinders, saws, and bending apparatuses.
- Carry out welding processes including MIG, TIG, or MMA as required.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and client specifications.
- Use precision measuring tools like tape measures, micrometers, verniers, and gauges effectively.
- Perform finishing tasks including grinding, deburring, and polishing to complete products.
- Maintain a tidy and secure workshop environment compliant with health and safety protocols.
- Communicate issues concerning materials, equipment malfunctions, or quality to supervisors promptly.
- Collaborate with welders, engineers, and production teams to meet project deadlines.
Required Skills and Experience
- Hands-on fabrication or metalworking experience.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding technical and engineering drawings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing methodologies.
- Experience with both hand and power tools plus various fabrication machinery.
- Keen attention to detail and a dedication to product quality.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with workshop health and safety standards.
- Relevant qualifications such as an Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in Fabrication and Welding, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Certified welding skills in MIG, TIG, and MMA processes.
- Experience with forklift trucks, overhead cranes, or other lifting equipment is advantageous.
