Role Overview

The Extrusion Setter/Operator position at Atkore involves setting up and running extrusion machines to manufacture various plastic products per detailed specifications. Operating within the Unistrut division, this role supports ongoing business expansion by ensuring quality production and efficient operation of extrusion equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate extrusion machinery to produce plastic profiles or conduit tubes conforming to quality requirements.
• Continuously supervise production, making necessary adjustments for process optimization and product consistency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
• Conduct routine maintenance to ensure machinery remains in good working condition.
• Inspect finished goods carefully to detect defects and guarantee compliance with quality standards.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures while maintaining a clean and well-ordered work environment.
• Control scrap levels and correctly manage disposal of defective or non-conforming materials.

Candidate Profile

• Prior hands-on experience operating extrusion machines, especially with profiles or conduit tube production.
• Basic understanding of logic controllers and tooling used in extrusion processes; training available if needed.
• Ability to assemble components related to the extrusion process.
• Mechanical aptitude to comprehend machine operations.
• Strong team player with capability to work independently.
• Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.

Performance Objectives

• Achieve zero harm incidents for self and colleagues.
• Ensure no defective raw materials enter the production facility.
• Maintain timely offloading of raw materials to meet production schedules.

Working Hours and Compensation

The role involves a 39-hour work week on a 2-week rotating shift pattern:

• Week 1 & 2: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM; Thursday, 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
• Week 3 & 4: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Annual salary can reach up to £35,753.64, inclusive of shift allowances.
