Overview
The Explorer Team Leader is responsible for supporting the daily management and supervision of the Explorers Kids Club and children's activity programs at Rosewood AMAALA. This role ensures safe, professional, and high-quality delivery of all activities aligned with Rosewood's A Sense of Place® philosophy and Forbes/LQA standards. The leader acts as the floor supervisor, guiding Explorer Agents, maintaining service excellence, child safety, and crafting engaging experiences for children and families.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Explorer Manager in leading, motivating, and supervising the Explorer team to maintain consistent, premium service standards.
- Serve as shift leader during the Manager's absence, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
- Allocate daily tasks, manage break coverage, and assign activities to meet business demands.
- Provide real-time coaching and operational support to staff, ensuring compliance with SOPs, safety policies, and service expectations.
- Help onboard and train new team members effectively.
- Oversee smooth Kids Club operations during assigned shifts, including managing check-in/out protocols with proper documentation such as registrations, consents, allergies, and authorized pickups.
- Maintain a visible, active presence engaging with children, parents, and guardians to ensure attentive service.
- Guarantee continuous child supervision with proper adult-to-child ratios.
- Handle guest inquiries professionally and escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Lead and participate in age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, games, storytelling, sports, themed sessions, and educational workshops.
- Support culturally themed programs reflecting AMAALA’s wellness, sustainability, and local heritage ethos, adapting activities to various age groups and conditions.
- Organize special events including festive celebrations, movie nights, treasure hunts, and family-oriented activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with child safety policies, hygiene standards, emergency procedures, and child protection guidelines including confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Keep precise records of attendance, consent forms, medical notes, incidents, and accident reports, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of activity areas, toys, and equipment.
- Maintain departmental SOP adherence and support compliance with Rosewood brand and Forbes Travel Guide/LQA requirements.
- Perform regular spot checks to uphold cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
- Assist with daily operation reports, including participation data and incident logs.
- Monitor condition and usage of toys, craft supplies, and equipment; report shortages or maintenance issues.
- Manage confidential guest, child, and company information with strict discretion.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
- Comply with COSHH regulations, departmental risk assessments, and fire/bomb procedures.
- Adapt to flexible working hours and duties per operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience in a comparable role within luxury or ultra-luxury hospitality.
- High school diploma required; certifications in childcare, education, hospitality, or supervision preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and judgment under pressure.
- Strong communication skills in English required; fluency in additional languages is an advantage.
- Proficient with luxury hospitality service standards and comfortable using hotel software and basic office applications.
- Physical ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors and participate in activities.
