About the Role
Exyte is seeking an Expert Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to lead the preconstruction commercial management of mechanical scopes on Data Center projects throughout Northern Europe. This role involves working within the Data Centers (DTC) division, which specializes in design-to-construction services aiming at high efficiency and reliability for advanced intelligence, hyperscale, colocation, and cloud-computing data centers, utilizing both traditional and modular construction methods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for mechanical systems such as HVAC and plumbing.
- Interpret and analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to accurately quantify and cost mechanical elements.
- Create detailed cost plans and budgets for mechanical portions of projects.
- Leverage digital quantification tools including Bluebeam, CostX, and Revit to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Contribute to developing procurement strategies, including segmentation of packages and prioritizing early procurement of long-lead and major equipment.
- Ensure mechanical scopes are fully defined and categorized appropriately to facilitate tendering and procurement processes.
- Manage the issuance of tenders to subcontractors and suppliers for mechanical works.
- Assess and negotiate subcontractor bids related to mechanical scope.
- Provide guidance on procurement strategies specifically tailored to mechanical packages.
- Review designs critically to identify value engineering opportunities and alternative specifications to optimize project value.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field from a recognized third-level institution.
- A minimum of five years post-qualification experience in a quantity surveying role within a main contracting environment, preferably focused on Data Center projects.
- Demonstrable involvement in Data Center projects with client spend exceeding €500 million.
- Proven success in commercial build projects related to Data Centers.
- Experience with negotiation of procurement packages.
- Proficiency with standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that are clear and concise.
- Excellent analytical and logical reasoning abilities.
- Detail-oriented with accuracy in numerical work.
