About the Team

The Marketplace Intelligence and Data team delivers sustainable and efficient data and intelligence solutions supporting Shopee's business growth. Their responsibilities include building Shopee's e-commerce data warehouse, constructing merchant and operational data products, managing traffic data, and developing algorithms for product release, control, and optimization. Their focus also extends to marketing algorithms like merchandising, product selection, recommendation, evaluation, user profiling, alongside foundational AI capabilities, including machine translation, speech, image algorithms, and real-person authentication.

Job Role

This role involves leading the design and advancement of core algorithms across several cutting-edge areas:

• AIGC detection and media forensics
• Face intelligence, liveness detection, and defenses against deepfake
• Document understanding and fraud detection
• Multimodal reasoning and AI agents
• Overseeing end-to-end algorithmic solutions
• Driving the transition from research to production-level applications

You'll set technical directions particularly in multimodal and vision-language models, trustworthy AI, biometric security, and generative model detection and provenance analysis. The role includes mentoring senior engineers and upholding high standards in algorithmic decision-making. Close collaboration with product and engineering teams is essential to align algorithm strategies with business goals.

Candidate Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline
• More than 5 years of experience developing production-level machine learning systems or equivalent professional impact
• Proven technical expertise in relevant advanced fields
• Strong practical experience with contemporary deep learning technologies
• Demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale systems from initial concept through production deployment
• Excellent ability to make technical decisions within ambiguous contexts
• A proactive ownership mindset and strategic long-term vision
• Strong enthusiasm for creating dependable and impactful AI products

• Research publications in prestigious conferences or journals specializing in computer vision, multimodal AI, or artificial intelligence
