Experienced Painter

Job Overview

Thornton Engineering is seeking a skilled and certified Painter to become part of their team based in Corio, Victoria. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing steel surfaces and applying protective coatings using various methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare steel surfaces for painting by cleaning, washing, stripping, sanding, and removing corrosion or imperfections using chemicals and hand tools.
• Operate equipment such as blast pots and spray guns effectively.
• Utilize knowledge of different painting techniques including sandblasting, chemical and abrasive methods, masking, and etching.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings accurately.
• Safe handling and operation of relevant tools and machinery.
• Perform grinding, sanding, and polishing on steel components as needed.
• Apply various coatings correctly, understanding paint, caulking, and sealing processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application or an equivalent qualification.
• Preferably hold at least 3 years of experience in a similar industrial painting or surface preparation role.
• Capability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Compensation and Application

This full-time position offers a salary range between $70,000 and $95,000 annually, depending on the applicant’s experience.
