Role Overview

Join the Mandai Operations Department, responsible for the management and upkeep of government cemeteries, crematoria, and columbaria. Stationed at the Mandai crematorium, this position plays a pivotal role in delivering after-death care services with professionalism and dignity in a sensitive, emotionally charged environment. Balancing operational efficiency with empathy for grieving families is critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify required documents and authorisations prior to cremation and ash collection procedures.
• Operate cremation machinery such as cremators, mechanised trolleys, and insertion equipment strictly following safety guidelines and internal protocols.
• Handle human remains respectfully throughout the cremation process, ensuring accurate identification and tracking.
• Keep all cremation and ash collection records updated promptly in line with legal and internal standards.
• Manage feedback from funeral service providers and next-of-kin effectively.
• Collaborate with funeral directors and families to facilitate smooth crematorium operations.
• Quickly identify equipment malfunctions and liaise with appropriate parties for repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and uphold a dignified environment within the crematorium.
• Execute additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Possess relevant technical experience in mechanical or electrical engineering or a comparable field.
• Understand the operation and upkeep of cremation equipment, including adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
• Capable of maintaining accurate records using standardized computer systems.
• Exhibit strong emotional resilience and maintain professionalism while working amidst death and grieving individuals.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high standards in all procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with bereaved families and funeral professionals with empathy and respect.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining focus on respectful conduct.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, encompassing weekends and public holidays.
• Physically able to stand for long durations and perform occasional lifting tasks.
• Adaptable to work environments involving exposure to heat-generating equipment and strict safety protocols.
• Comfortable operating in a setting involving human remains and emotional family interactions.
