Executive Solution Architect for Cloud Platform (m/f/d)

Position Overview

In this role, you will hold strategic and technical accountability for the customer's cloud platform. You will define target architectures, security and operational standards to establish a foundation enabling secure, standardized, and scalable deployment, integration, and operation of applications in a regulated, high-availability cloud environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Design the platform's target architecture based on cloud-native principles, and develop reference architectures, blueprints, guardrails, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for build, run, and integration phases.
• Establish cloud-native operational standards (including Kubernetes, multi-cluster, Helm, GitOps) and consistent deployment, security, and observability patterns.
• Analyze applications regarding technology stack, dependencies, authentication/authorization, and operational requirements; derive migration strategies and tool choices; oversee end-to-end implementation including troubleshooting and stabilization.
• Take ownership of security and compliance architecture (security concepts, accreditation, penetration testing, backup/recovery) based on Zero Trust and regulatory requirements (such as C5, IT-Grundschutz, GDPR, VS-NfD).
• Design highly available multi-cluster and multi-site architectures including fleet management; audit existing architectures for quality, security, and operational maturity.
• Lead architecture discussions, facilitate review sessions, and promote onboarding, training, and knowledge management (including guidelines, trainings, and tutorials).

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive background as a solution and enterprise architect within cloud domains.
• Profound expertise in cloud-native architectures encompassing the CNCF landscape, microservices, and 12-factor app principles.
• Experience designing, building, and enhancing operational models using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
• Broad experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes multi-cluster setups and federation, as well as virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Linux, and KubeVirt.
• Proficiency with contemporary orchestration and platform tools, including Helm, service mesh, Crossplane, and Gardener.
• Strategic understanding and practical application of GitOps principles with tools like Argo CD and Flux; knowledge of CI/CD architectures and git workflows like GitFlow.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing cloud migration approaches such as lift-and-shift and cloud-native transformation.
• Strong programming and code review skills, particularly with Go, open-source technologies, and git.
• Deep knowledge of security and governance frameworks including Zero Trust, BSI IT-Grundschutz, and ISO 27001.
• Excellent communication and coordination capabilities with management-level stakeholders.
• Experience in architecture modeling and documentation standards.
• Fluency in both written and spoken German and English at negotiation level.

Additional Desired Skills

• Experience working in regulated environments like the public sector, defense, or ones with compliance requirements.
• Relevant architecture certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305), or Google Cloud Professional Architect.
• Solid background in multi-cluster orchestration, high-availability architectures, fleet management (e.g., Gardener), and data center design.
• Good understanding of the cloud-native ecosystem and related CNCF projects.
• Proven ability in structured stakeholder communication and defining and managing clear work packages.
