Job description
Role Summary
The International Advanced Level Physics Examiner will be responsible for evaluating candidates' answers in line with the set marking criteria and compliance with examination protocols. The majority of assessments are marked digitally via the ePEN system from home, while some still rely on traditional paper-based scripts dispatched through post. A thorough understanding of the subject is essential to correctly apply the marking scheme. Each examiner will receive a specific number of scripts to assess.
Primary Duties
- Deliver accurate and consistent marking to uphold quality standards.
- Submit marking samples punctually to the Team Leader as required.
- Stick to all marking deadlines and milestones.
- Complete all administrative tasks as prescribed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of one academic year teaching experience within the last eight years in the relevant qualification and subject area.
- A university degree or its equivalent.
- A certified teaching qualification.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Ability to manage pressure effectively.
- Strong time-management skills to meet deadlines.
- Profound knowledge of Physics to accurately interpret and use the marking scheme.
Additional Information
- The marking period spans from May to July annually.
- Required training for examiners will be conducted between May and June.
- The 2018 syllabus includes these units: WPH11 (Mechanics and Materials), WPH12 (Waves and Electricity), WPH13 (Practical Skills in Physics), WPH14 (Further Mechanics, Fields and Particles), WPH15 (Thermodynamics, Radiation, Oscillations and Cosmology), and WPH16 (Practical Skills in Physics II).
