Examiner - GCE A Level - Mathematics (2017 Specification)

Role Overview

The role involves evaluating candidates' responses for GCE Mathematics following the 2017 Specification. Marking is conducted in line with a detailed mark scheme and strict examination protocols. While most marking is performed digitally using the ePEN system remotely, some scripts may be marked via traditional paper methods. A comprehensive understanding of the subject is essential to apply the marking criteria accurately. Each examiner will be assigned a specific batch of scripts to assess.

Key Responsibilities

• Mark scripts with accuracy and consistency to uphold marking standards.
• Provide sample marked scripts to the Team Leader punctually as required.
• Adhere to designated marking deadlines and milestones.
• Complete all related administrative duties as instructed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess at least one academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject within the last eight years, post-teacher qualification.
• Hold a degree or an equivalent qualification.
• Be a certified qualified teacher.

Required Competencies

• Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Maintain a strong subject knowledge necessary for accurate application of marking schemes.

Additional Details

• Marking assignments will occur from May to July annually.
• Training for the examiner role is scheduled between May and June.
