Estimator

Role Overview

The Estimator is responsible for generating precise and competitive job cost estimates to prepare quotations and tenders for received enquiries. This includes prompt response to enquiries and use of a proprietary estimation tool to develop submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and review contract enquiries, devise pricing plans, and meet required deadlines.
• Follow up with clients to clarify project scope ensuring quote accuracy in alignment with client expectations.
• Manage the entire tender process including site visits and meetings with tender committees.
• Issue enquiries to supply chain partners to secure competitive pricing by selecting optimal suppliers and manufacturing locations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver comprehensive programmes and high-quality submissions as per RFQ requirements.
• Evaluate quotations from suppliers, negotiate costs considering raw material prices and production rates across different economies, and review terms against tender standards.
• Develop tender analysis reports for internal review and client presentations in a professional format.
• Detail cost breakdowns sufficiently for contract evaluations.
• Assess mark-ups and present findings during tender vetting meetings.
• Ensure the tender summary sheet is completed and approved according to procedure.
• Track tender/quotation progress and participate in client meetings as needed.
• Thoroughly examine enquiry documents such as contracts, specifications, drawings, and BOMs to identify risks, opportunities, and discrepancies.
• Conduct handover meetings between Estimating and Operations/Commercial departments, providing necessary project information.
• Utilize familiarity with the Qatar market to diversify and strengthen the supply chain beyond current vendor reliance.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in the fit-out industry with a background in preparing estimates, preferably with exposure to the Qatar market.
• Educational qualifications include B. Tech, BE, or Diploma.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the tender process and value engineering methods.
• Skilled in analyzing trade comparisons.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and basic IT skills.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong prioritization skills to manage tasks based on urgency and deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
• Effective business level communication skills both written and verbal in English.
