As an Estimator, you will take charge of managing inquiries and the tendering process, evaluating opportunities from both commercial and technical perspectives. Your role involves preparing precise estimates derived from detailed drawings and specifications while coordinating with clients and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of competitive bids. This position emphasizes not only numbers but also the critical judgment that influences project pursuit and pricing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the inquiry process, identifying projects with viable commercial prospects.
- Produce detailed, accurate cost estimates for clients based on technical documentation.
- Utilize drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare bids.
- Manage the entire estimating and tender lifecycle from initial inquiry to submission.
- Maintain close communication with clients throughout the tendering stages.
- Collaborate effectively with estimating, engineering, commercial, and operations departments.
- Develop and sustain relationships with existing clients while supporting business growth through new opportunities.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Ensure all estimates are commercially competitive and technically reliable.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in an estimating capacity, ideally within structural steel.
- Good understanding of the structural steel estimating process.
- Proficiency in interpreting detailed drawings and specifications.
- Strong commercial awareness combined with customer-focused communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and reliability in managing workloads.
- Competent in managing multiple enquiries under tight timelines.
- Relevant technical or engineering qualifications are favorable.
- Experience specific to structural steel estimation is highly desirable.
