Estimator - Hybrid

About the Role

Had Fab Limited, a leading UK steel fabrication company with a contract portfolio exceeding 100 million, is looking to expand its Commercial & Estimating team by recruiting a skilled Estimator. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to significant projects and to have a key part in converting new business opportunities into successful proposals.

Responsibilities

• Develop competitive, precise cost estimates and commercial proposals in close collaboration with the Estimating & Commercial Manager and team.
• Create tender bids derived from customer drawings, specifications, and enquiry documents.
• Establish and nurture strong customer relations to fully understand and meet their needs.
• Discover value-added proposals that benefit both customers and Had Fab.
• Maintain thorough records for bids including tracking, reporting, and all necessary supporting documents.
• Perform peer reviews on estimates to assure quality, precision, and adherence to standards.
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery timelines.
• Prepare professional quotation letters that include important clarifications.
• Handle all customer communications regarding changes to project scope, costs, or schedules.
• Verify specifications and drawings against tender documentation for accuracy.
• Maximize value while exercising strong cost control throughout the estimation process.
• Ensure CRM data is updated accurately to assist with forecasting and planning.
• Participate in ongoing efforts to improve the estimating process and team capabilities.
• Incorporate health, safety, and environmental considerations into all estimating activities to uphold Had Fab's high safety standards.

Candidate Profile

• Comprehensive technical understanding of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Experience in estimating and building cost models.
• Familiarity with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Commercial acumen with an awareness of the sales process and customer engagement.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build solid customer relationships.
• A proactive approach, motivated by winning business and contributing to company growth.
