About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Estimator to join our tendering team. In this position, you will take the lead in preparing detailed tender estimates for our civil and mechanical & electrical engineering projects, driving proactive development and fostering strong team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work independently while continuously enhancing technical knowledge.
  • Maintain a positive approach with eagerness to embrace new challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Tendering Department, group personnel, and external consultants to prepare comprehensive tender submissions.
  • Take full accountability for tender submissions as the Lead Estimator, coordinating tender designs when necessary.
  • Conduct tender price reviews in line with established company policies.
  • Source materials and subcontractor quotes with assistance from Assistant Estimators; estimate costs for staff, labor, and equipment.
  • Provide project-specific input to ensure high-quality tender deliverables.
  • Develop tender programmes, supported by delivery managers.
  • Identify and evaluate key risks and opportunities and integrate them into the tender sum assessment.
  • Support post-tender validation and transition of successful bids.
  • Supervise the work of assigned Assistant Estimators.
  • Stay informed on statutory requirements related to the company’s operations.
  • Be knowledgeable about typical contract forms used in projects and their potential amendments.
  • Maintain awareness of the company’s Safety Statement and HSQE Management Systems.
  • Ensure tender submissions account for safe working methods and welfare facilities in accordance with legal and best-practice standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in a relevant construction field or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience within the construction industry, focusing on civil engineering and/or mechanical & electrical disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of commercial aspects related to construction contracts, gained through relevant prior work on similar projects.
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload effectively to meet firm deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current membership or pursuing membership with professional bodies such as RICS, CIOB, or comparable organisations.
