Job description
Role Overview
The Estimator at Rand Enterprises Inc plays a critical role in assessing bid specifications and construction drawings to ensure comprehensive understanding for bidding projects successfully. This role demands proactive engagement with subcontractors to secure timely bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Possess experience in general construction contractor estimating; preference for government contracting.
- Execute precise quantitative take-offs across various construction divisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, architects, and engineers.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and computer proficiency.
- Manage bid administration by preparing subcontractor bid packages, verifying subcontractor coverage on bid days, and inputting data into estimating software.
- Thoroughly review bid requirements and actively seek clarification when necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or comparable education and experience.
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in construction estimating, understanding means and methods, accounting practices, document organization, and the ability to interpret a wide range of construction drawings and documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel periodically for site visits.
