Role Overview
We invite an experienced Estimator to join our expanding team in Adelaide. Reporting directly to the Estimating Manager, this role involves preparing tenders, cost plans, purchase orders, and pricing proposals for a variety of social and affordable housing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile comprehensive tenders, bill of quantities (BOQs), cost plans, and pricing submissions specifically for social and SDA housing projects.
- Analyze architectural and engineering documents along with specifications and scopes to pinpoint risks, opportunities, and cost implications.
- Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations ensuring submissions are competitive and financially sound.
- Participate in value management and risk evaluation during tendering stages.
- Prepare purchase orders and oversee procurement documentation for tradespeople and suppliers.
- Coordinate with internal teams to manage contract variations and align with client expectations.
- Maintain effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant industry stakeholders.
- Drive ongoing improvements in estimating, procurement, and pricing workflows.
Candidate Profile
- At least five years of estimating experience within residential, townhouse, or medium-density construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, buildability, cost structures, and complex structural considerations.
- Proficient in accurately interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong commercial insight, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Effective multitasking abilities to handle multiple tenders and deadlines concurrently.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Possession of a qualification in Building, Construction Management, or similar area (Certificate IV or above), or a relevant trade background.
- Experience with estimating software such as Databuild or Framework and skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
