Job description
Job Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Estimation Manager to oversee all tendering and estimation activities for construction projects. The ideal candidate will spearhead the entire tendering process, create precise and market-competitive cost evaluations, assess potential project risks, and collaborate closely with various teams to ensure smooth and successful bid submissions. This role demands deep commercial insight, technical know-how, and strong leadership within the UAE construction sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end tendering and estimation operations from receiving tender documents up to the submission of proposals.
- Analyze tender documentation including specifications, drawings, and Bills of Quantities to define project scope and formulate bid strategies.
- Develop, review, and authorize comprehensive cost estimates encompassing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor fees, preliminaries, overheads, and profit margins.
- Guarantee all tender submissions are precise, competitive, compliant, and timely.
- Evaluate project costs to maintain bids that are both commercially sound and competitive.
- Stay informed of market fluctuations, material pricing, labor costs, and industry standards specific to UAE construction.
- Perform value engineering and suggest cost-saving solutions without sacrificing quality or project stipulations.
- Identify commercial and technical risks, prepare risk evaluations, and set suitable contingencies.
- Work jointly with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and other departments to gather essential estimating information.
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive quotes and negotiate terms.
- Take part in tender review sessions, bid clarifications, and handover meetings.
- Assist in client presentations, clarify technical details, and support commercial negotiations as necessary.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the estimation team, encouraging high performance and ongoing enhancements.
- Maintain estimation tools such as databases, cost libraries, templates, and archives of past records.
- Apply best practice methods to raise estimation precision, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure strict adherence to company quality, health, safety, and environmental policies along with internal protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or comparable fields.
- Professional certifications will be considered beneficial.
- A minimum of 10 to 15 years' experience in construction estimation and tendering, including at least 5 years in a leadership or senior managerial estimation role.
- Extensive exposure to building and infrastructure projects within the UAE or GCC region.
