Job Overview

As an Equipment Specialist for the U.S. Pacific Fleet based in Garden Island, Western Australia, you will play a crucial role in supporting maintenance and repair projects by managing the procurement and tracking of materials. This position operates remotely but includes overseas employment requirements and occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the ordering and purchasing processes for materials needed in maintenance and repair projects.
• Conduct research, analysis, and identification of various material sources and suitable substitute parts to support project requirements.
• Review certifications to verify materials meet precise manufacturing specifications.
• Advise project teams on material needs, supply options, and procurement strategies.
• Monitor material status for equipment upgrades and report delivery progress to project coordinators.
• Assess supplier proposals, obtain pricing quotations, and guide project teams on purchasing decisions.

Employment Conditions and Requirements

• Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and deemed suitable for federal employment.
• Participation in direct deposit payment system is mandatory.

• Compliance with overseas requirements pertinent to the Department of Defense directives for foreign assignments.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-11 federal grade level or comparable private/public sector role. This experience should include managing material procurement and support operations, analyzing process deficiencies, and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to ensure correct material ordering and operability.
