Role Overview

As an Entry-Level Underground Miner, you will be considered for various underground roles such as Truck Operator, Nipper, or General Service Miner depending on your skills and operational needs. No previous mining experience is necessary as comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to equip you with the skills necessary for a fulfilling long-term career at BHP.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy underground mining machinery including manual 4WD vehicles (Toyota Landcruiser), trucks, rock breakers (excavators), and integrated tool carriers.
• Install and maintain essential infrastructure vital for underground mining operations.
• Collaborate with team members operating drills and other heavy-duty mining equipment.
• Ensure safe work practices in dynamic underground environments, including working at heights.
• Support overall production and underground mining activities by executing assigned tasks effectively.
• Work on a 7/7 roster involving 12-hour rotating shifts (7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off) based at Olympic Dam.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of two years’ work experience in any industry.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and confidence with operating manual transmission vehicles before joining BHP.
• A strong work ethic combined with eagerness to learn and develop skills.
• Ability to be a collaborative team player committed to prioritizing safety.
• Capability to adjust to shift work demands and periods away from home.
• Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling, and ability to work safely underground.
