Role Overview
As an Entry Level Support Engineer based onsite in Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand, you will serve as the first point of contact for IT-related issues within the education sector at our client sites. Your role will include face-to-face assistance and managing support tickets to ensure responsive, clear communication with users who may not have technical backgrounds. You will prioritize and troubleshoot problems, liaise with other teams for complex issues, and maintain precise daily timesheets. The workweek spans Monday to Thursday with 8-hour days and Friday with 6 hours, totaling 38 hours weekly. Travel between local sites is required, sometimes up to 1.5 hours, with a company vehicle provided for transportation.
Core Responsibilities
- Address client technical queries through phone, email, chat, and other communication channels.
- Analyze and resolve technical problems reported by users.
- Maintain accurate records of issues using a ticketing platform.
- Escalate unresolved cases to specialized teams and track progress until resolution.
- Keep knowledge current on products and technology trends to deliver precise support.
Qualifications and Requirements
- New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency is mandatory.
- Possession of a valid New Zealand driver’s license (full or restricted).
Desirable Technical Skills
- Experience with Windows 11 operating system.
- Familiarity with Windows Server 2022 environments.
- Knowledge of Azure Active Directory administration.
- Understanding of FortiGate Firewall configuration and support.
- Experience with network switching hardware such as Ruckus, HP, and Allied Telesis.
- Wireless networking with Ruckus, Aruba/HP, and Aerohive systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting printers and copiers.
