Entry Level Door Service Technician

Overview

Vortex Doors, a leader in commercial and industrial door repair renowned for outstanding quality and customer focus, is looking to add Service Technicians to its expert team. Candidates with prior door industry experience or those new to the field are both welcome to apply.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install and repair a wide range of commercial doors utilizing proper tools and techniques.
• Conduct diagnosis and perform routine maintenance on doors, handling issues such as broken springs, hinges, locks, and electrical parts.
• Set up and adjust door hardware including locks, handles, closers, and access control devices.
• Ensure all door installations respect applicable safety and building codes.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries, clarifying repair procedures, and presenting appropriate solutions.
• Maintain detailed documentation of service visits, repairs, and installations, and submit reports as needed.
• Troubleshoot technical door problems efficiently while advising clients on cost-effective options.
• Perform quality inspections post-installation or repair to uphold company standards.

Work Hours

Positions are full-time with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, including opportunities for overtime and on-call days.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent credential.
• Two or more years of experience in commercial door servicing is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with diverse door types, brands, and hardware systems is an asset.
• Proficient with hand and power tool operations.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Comfortable performing calculations involving fractions and precise measurement skills using tape measures.
• Good communication skills combined with customer service orientation.
• Meticulous attention to detail with commitment to superior craftsmanship.
• Knowledge and compliance with safety standards and procedures.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform continuous lifting, bending; able to climb ladders up to 20 feet and work on knees for prolonged durations; skilled in handling power tools.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training.
