Job description
Role Overview
The Enterprise Computing and Cloud Architect is tasked with defining and overseeing the enterprise architecture concerning computing platforms and infrastructure across various environments including on-premises, private cloud, public cloud, high-performance computing (HPC), and AI infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and sustain the enterprise architecture for computing environments spanning on-premises, private, and public cloud platforms, along with HPC and AI infrastructure.
- Design enterprise target and reference architectures, establish technology standards, principles, and design patterns for computing and cloud platforms.
- Create and update strategic technology roadmaps aligned with business goals, enterprise architecture strategies, and emerging trends.
- Provide architectural leadership and assurance for large-scale programs, transformation projects, and intricate technology solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend infrastructure, cloud, computing, virtualization, containerization, HPC, and AI technologies that match enterprise needs.
- Define architectural standards emphasizing scalability, availability, security, performance, resilience, interoperability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Align solution architectures with enterprise architecture, technology standards, and strategic objectives.
- Lead architecture reviews and govern technical aspects through the solution lifecycle.
- Analyze current environments and plan transition architectures and migration paths toward the envisioned target state.
- Outline strategies for cloud adoption, hybrid cloud integration, workload placements, and infrastructure modernization.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, data, applications, networking, operations, and other architecture domains to ensure cohesive enterprise-wide solutions.
- Offer architectural guidance on high-performance and AI computing platforms covering capacity, acceleration technologies, scalability, and integration requirements.
- Identify technology risks, technical debt, architectural dependencies, and opportunities for platform modernization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
- Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Over 10 years of experience in technology, infrastructure, cloud, or enterprise architecture, especially within large-scale enterprises.
- Proven track record in designing and managing complex computing and infrastructure platforms.
- In-depth expertise in on-premises infrastructure and public/private cloud environments.
- Experience with HPC and AI infrastructure architectures is highly valued.
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud architectures, virtualization, container technologies, compute platforms, storage, networking, and infrastructure automation.
- Skilled in developing enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, technology roadmaps, and governance frameworks.
- Experience providing architectural assurance for significant programs and complex technology deployments.
- Strong knowledge of security, resilience, availability, scalability, performance, and cost optimization in infrastructure.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Enterprise architecture certification such as TOGAF or equivalent.
- Cloud architecture credentials from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Specialist certifications in technologies like VMware, Kubernetes, HPC, and AI infrastructure.
