Position Overview

We are searching for a seasoned Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture (EA) team. The focus of the role is to advance the maturity of our EA practice by refining architecture and governance processes. This involves close collaboration with IT leaders, business stakeholders, and product owners to develop detailed roadmaps, improve alignment, and increase visibility across programs and projects to support digital transformation.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain ownership of the Enterprise Architecture standards alongside Architects and stakeholders; develop and review technological standards.
• Lead the governance process for project design review ensuring solutions align with technology policies, business and IT strategies, and meet robustness criteria.
• Work with delivery teams to provide timely architectural guidance, steering solution designs toward ideal outcomes that reflect long-term strategies and standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and product owners to create business capability roadmaps that define long-term strategic objectives.
• Partner with IT leaders to develop technology capability roadmaps identifying gaps and critical needs for IT strategy refinement.
• Manage and advocate for the Enterprise Architecture tool suite, enabling users to oversee their products and strategic planning.
• Act as a trusted advisor to assist with expectation setting, resource allocation, effort estimation, and clarifying IT landscape understanding.
• Provide leadership by articulating a clear vision to diverse audiences, facilitating incremental progress toward strategic goals.
• Serve as a mentor and thought leader within AutoZone IT and the broader industry.

Qualification and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Over 14 years of IT industry experience, including hands-on development expertise and deep knowledge in at least one technology stack.
• At least 5 years in a Technical or Solutions Architect role.
• Experience managing multiple interdependent, parallel workstreams is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex topics effectively to varied audiences.
• Systems thinker capable of shifting between high-level conceptualization and detailed execution, summarizing extensive information clearly.
• Proven ability to independently research, evaluate, and compare new technologies or platforms for strategic application.
• Self-motivated and inquisitive, able to swiftly learn and integrate new and legacy technologies.
• Decision-making grounded in facts, with agility to make quick choices in uncertain scenarios.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry architecture concepts, application patterns, methodologies, and principles.
• Experience designing, implementing, and deploying large-scale, resilient software systems, especially using Service-Based or Event-Based Architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud environments including Cloud Providers, Hybrid Cloud, or Multi-Cloud platforms is beneficial.
