Job description

Company Overview

Workbench International is a developer of job-costing and project management software tailored for civil, construction, trade, and engineering contractors. Their application encompasses cost control, forecasting, payroll, and field mobility features, built on financial management foundations rather than just scheduling.

With over 30 years of organic growth rooted in referrals and strong customer retention, the company recently joined Riverside Company, a North American private equity firm, in 2026. The strategic vision involves professionalizing go-to-market strategies and accelerating expansion in Australia and international markets over the next 3 to 5 years.

The team comprises approximately 50 employees split between Auckland and Melbourne, including about 20 consultants dedicated to implementation, support, and consulting, alongside 20 personnel in product development and engineering.

Role Overview

The Enterprise Account Executive will play a critical role in driving the Australian enterprise sales cycle, benefiting from a PE-backed growth mandate and significant investment in sales and marketing resources. This role enjoys a high earning potential exceeding $350K OTE, focusing on fewer but larger enterprise deals starting around $80K annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end enterprise sales in Australia, encompassing discovery, demonstrations, proposal development, negotiations, and deal closure.
  • Conduct thorough discovery to understand how contractors manage job costing, payroll, and forecasting prior to product demonstrations.
  • Deliver highly customized demos, often spanning multiple sessions, tailored to diverse stakeholders including finance, operations, project, and executive teams.
  • Navigate multi-stakeholder negotiations involving CFOs, financial controllers, operations managers, and owner-operators.
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing enterprise opportunities and nurture key client relationships through structured handovers.
  • Collaborate with a burgeoning BDR function to cultivate outbound pipelines targeting contractor prospects.
  • Provide market feedback to product and go-to-market teams to inform ongoing sales strategy development.
  • Engage customers at their workplaces including client sites, industry events, and boardroom meetings.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates do not require prior construction experience but must demonstrate capacity to manage lengthy, consultative sales conversations effectively with financial stakeholders.

  • Proven success in selling complex B2B software such as ERP, financial management, job management, or field service systems, with deal sizes ranging from high five-figures to six-figures.
  • Strong ability to grasp client cost structures rather than rely solely on product feature presentations.
  • Effectiveness in delivering engaging demos and maintaining audience attention.
  • Autonomy and self-motivation to succeed without extensive sales floor support.
  • A desire to influence and help build the enterprise sales function rather than simply meet sales targets.

Experience in construction, trade, or contractor software is beneficial but not mandatory, with credibility among financially oriented buyers taking precedence.

Unique Aspects of this Role

This role offers a mature product and loyal customer base backed by investment to scale sales operations. Unlike opportunities with multiple enterprise sellers, this position grants ownership of the Australian enterprise segment, empowering the incumbent to shape and grow sales practices at a formative stage.

The sales function is actively under development, offering a chance to contribute to the creation of foundational strategies and playbooks.
