Position Overview

We are searching for an Engineering Manager to lead the full lifecycle delivery of a significant healthcare technology project based in Doha, Qatar. This role marries technical leadership with hands-on engineering, involving requirements gathering, architecture design, development oversight, deployment, and production support management.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day guidance for frontend, backend, quality assurance, DevOps, and data teams.
• Lead by example with hands-on involvement in development, testing, configuration, and product demonstrations when needed.
• Translate project objectives into clear engineering priorities and actionable plans.
• Assist engineers in overcoming technical obstacles and making implementation choices.
• Review architectural designs ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability standards are met.
• Supervise system architecture encompassing applications, APIs, databases, integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
• Manage technical risks, debts, dependencies, and system integration complexities.
• Participate actively in design reviews, code audits, and release cycles.
• Mentor team members fostering a culture of strong engineering discipline and ownership.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment environments, and release management ensuring controlled and repeatable production rollouts.
• Coordinate system monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive measures.
• Ensure disaster recovery, backup strategies, and system resilience plans are in place and effective.
• Promote and enforce quality, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance across all project phases.
• Define testing scopes, acceptance criteria, manage defect resolution, and evaluate release risks effectively.
• Lead security audits, vulnerability assessments, and ensure critical issues are resolved before releases.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and release evidence.
• Own end-to-end delivery phases including planning, execution, release readiness, and sustaining production stability.
• Lead sprint and backlog planning, release scheduling, and cross-team coordination.
• Track and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies rigorously.
• Engage with stakeholders to clarify and gather business, clinical, and functional requirements, translating them into technical specifications and user stories.
• Facilitate workshops, demos, release sessions, and manage stakeholder expectations with documented decisions and follow-ups.
• Coordinate with external vendors, auditors, and integration partners to ensure smooth project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years' software engineering experience with at least 3 years in leadership roles managing projects and teams.
• Demonstrable success in delivering end-to-end production software systems.
• Deep expertise in frontend, backend, APIs, databases, cloud environments, DevOps, information security, and analytics.
• Solid ability to convert requirements into technical implementations and manage software release life cycles and incident handling.
• Proficient in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Familiarity with tools like Jira, GitHub, and Azure DevOps.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Capable of performing effectively during high-pressure scenarios and incident resolution.
• Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Background in healthcare, government sectors, or regulated environments.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale or large institutional clients.
• Full-stack development exposure (including Flutter, Django, React, PostgreSQL).
• Hands-on with Azure cloud, Docker containers, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
• Experience in mobile app deployment for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Knowledge of identity management protocols such as SAML, OpenID Connect, and OAuth2.
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards like HL7 and FHIR.
• Insight into security best practices, vulnerability management, and audit compliance.
• Understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks including HIPAA and Qatar PDPPL.
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or ITIL are advantageous.
• Arabic language skills are an added benefit.
