Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a committed Engineering Manager to lead teams in achieving our ambitious product goals. Our mission is to provide the premier creative software experience for a global user base.
Role Purpose
This role sits within our product development team and reports directly to the CTO. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with engineering, executive leadership, and other departments to ensure alignment of engineering with key business functions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate engineering efforts, ensuring alignment across teams.
- Partner with design to plan and manage feature development aimed at enhancing sustainability and efficiency in the development process.
- Provide constructive feedback and participate in performance reviews and management.
- Engage in hands-on coding 40-60% of the time to maintain strong technical skills.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable emotional intelligence and a composed, confident leadership style to build and guide diverse teams.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or senior engineer in a technology, product, or creative industry, especially within tech or startup environments.
- Capability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Organized, methodical, and detail-oriented approach that fosters confidence and structure.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and iOS development.
- Sound technical judgment with a history of making well-founded technical decisions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
Additional Advantageous Skills
- Familiarity with programming languages that offer different paradigms, such as Haskell, C, or Rust.
Initial 6-12 Month Expectations
- Complete onboarding and build rapport with colleagues.
- Gain comprehensive understanding of product development practices and processes.
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders, team leads, and executives.
- Support planning and delivery of core product features.
- Contribute actively to product releases.
