Role Overview
We seek an Engineering Manager to lead our Application Security team, overseeing application and cloud security as well as internal tooling initiatives. This role involves strategizing security implementations across software developed by multiple teams, including those outside direct supervision. Success in this position is defined by making secure options the easiest choices for engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead application security efforts across various domains such as cloud security and development of internal tools.
- Manage vulnerability lifecycle, including first- and third-party findings, coordinated disclosures, and embargoed remediation efforts.
- Define and refine engineering strategies alongside security leaders, individual contributors, and broader stakeholders.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, mentor, and coach team members to foster engagement, motivation, and high-quality output.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership and other stakeholders to influence product roadmaps, strategy, and architecture.
- Engage proactively in incident management processes including preparation, simulation, response, and communication with impacted customers.
- Review and contribute to technical design documentation to ensure clear project definitions and effective task breakdown.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading security engineering teams.
- Strong engineering foundation enabling technical discussion and guiding teams toward sound technical choices.
- Comfortable with autonomous engineering teams making independent technical and product decisions.
- Keep current with emerging technical trends and cybersecurity challenges relevant to your team.
- Adopt a DevOps approach to security focusing on enablement through automation and guardrails rather than restrictive gates.
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes, and securing hybrid open-source and SaaS products.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex cybersecurity issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating risk into business context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior programming or software engineering experience prior to security leadership roles.
- Familiarity with Grafana Labs open source projects and observability tools applied to security contexts.
- Experience contributing to and working with open-source communities.
- Knowledge of securing large, distributed systems.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for candidates in Ireland is €117,600 to €141,120, adjusted based on experience and skills. All employees receive Restricted Stock Units for shared company ownership. Compensation ranges vary by country, with specific discussions during recruiting.
